Grand Nord, Le Retour ...
7.800 km en 29 jours
Après le sud Marocain en 2025, dans un esprit d’alternance, cette année, je file pour la seconde fois vers les grands espaces du Nord de l’Europe.
Contrairement à 2018, je ne vais pas remonter jusqu’au Cap Nord mais prendre le temps de flâner dans les Lofoten. C’est quand même bien au-delà du cercle polaire arctique !
De Paris, je rejoindrai la Suède en prenant un ferry entre Kiel, en Allemagne au nord de Hamburg, et Göteborg. Je remonterai ensuite toute la Suède du sud au nord par le milieu jusqu’à la frontière finlandaise.
De là, route sur Tromsø, le point septentrional de ce périple, situé à 69° 39′ de latitude Nord, soit vraiment bien haut quand même. Pour référence, le point le plus au nord du continent européen, le Cap Nord, est à 71° 10′ de latitude Nord.
Ensuite, la grande descente en suivant la côte norvégienne via les Lofoten, Bergen et jusqu’au sud de la Norvège à Kristiansand où je prendrai un ferry pour Hirtshals au Danemark.
Il ne me restera plus qu’à traverser le Danemark, un bout d’Allemagne, les Pays-Bas et la Belgique pour rejoindre Paris.
A moi donc, les fjords majestueux, les grands espaces quasi inhabités et les jours sans fin de ce coin du monde !
Great North, The Return...
7,800 km in 29 days
After the south of Morocco in 2025, and in the spirit of alternating between destinations, this year I'm heading for the second time towards the great open spaces of Northern Europe.
Unlike in 2018, I won't be going all the way up to the North Cape, but instead taking the time to wander through the Lofoten Islands. That's still well beyond the Arctic Circle, mind you !
From Paris, I'll reach Sweden by taking a ferry between Kiel, in Germany north of Hamburg, and Gothenburg. I'll then travel the length of Sweden from south to north through the middle, all the way to the Finnish border.
From there, it's on to Tromsø, the northernmost point of this trip, situated at 69°39′ North latitude — pretty far up there indeed. For reference, the northernmost point of the European continent, the North Cape, sits at 71°10′ North latitude.
Then comes the long descent, following the Norwegian coast via the Lofoten Islands, Bergen, and down to southern Norway at Kristiansand, where I'll catch a ferry to Hirtshals in Denmark.
All that will be left is to cross Denmark, a stretch of Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium to get back to Paris.
So bring on the majestic fjords, the vast, near-uninhabited spaces, and the endless days of this corner of the world!

A stage to set off and get a haircut
Jour 1 # 6 juillet 2026 : Paris - Hastières / 310 km en 7,5 heures
Je décolle vers 8h30 de Paris et rejoins sans trop de bouchon la N2, en direction de Soisson.
Rien de palpitant mais il ne fait pas trop chaud et j’arrive vite à Laon où je déjeune et me fait faire une coupe plus adaptée au port du casque sous grosse température.
Ensuite je traverse les campagnes où les moissons sont pratiquement terminées.
Les Ardennes verdoyantes permettent à la température de ne pas dépasser les 31°C puis j’atteins la vallée de la Meuse.
L’entrée en Belgique est quasi invisible et j’arrive à mon hôtel du jour, sur les bords de la Meuse, à Heer.
I set off around 8:30am from Paris and, without too much traffic, join the N2 towards Soissons.
Nothing thrilling, but it isn't too hot and I soon reach Laon, where I have lunch and get a haircut better suited to wearing a helmet in high temperatures.
Then I cross the countryside, where the harvest is nearly finished.
The green Ardennes keep the temperature from climbing above 31°C, and then I reach the Meuse valley.
Crossing into Belgium is almost unnoticeable, and I arrive at today's hotel, on the banks of the Meuse, in Heer.
